Make the data the starting point.

If the only copy is on damaged or inaccessible hardware, describe what matters before agreeing to repair or replacement. These links take you to Data Recovery Lab NZ.

Prepare a useful enquiry.

  • The exact device model and year, if known.
  • What the display shows, and whether there is power, noise or unusual heat.
  • What happened first: a spill, impact, update, deletion or repair.
  • The files, libraries, apps and dates you need most.
  • Which copies you have checked and what they actually contain.
  • Whether you have the required passcode or FileVault credentials—without sending them.
  • Previous repair work, original parts, and any erase or rebuild attempts.

For an iMac or unusual storage arrangement

Ask the lab to confirm scope for your exact model, storage and shipping needs. Preserve both Fusion Drive members. Do not assume a MacBook service description applies unchanged to every iMac.

Check the current fees.

Starting prices are not quotes for every fault. Confirm assessment conditions, parts, media, courier costs and what happens if the quote is declined.

Read current pricing and conditions

Arrange the case before shipping.

Obtain a case reference and device-specific packing instructions. Tell the provider about liquid or battery damage. Local drop-off is by arrangement.
